Future Struct (Pty) Ltd was established in 2016 by Mr Johann Weinmann to provide structural and building engineering services. Mr. Weinmann identified the need for excellence in built environment professions as well as the need for training and mentoring of young employees to ensure a better future for all.
Future Struct is committed to provide excellent consulting engineering services to our clients at competitive rates. Future Struct strives to improve the lives of the clients and communities that we serve and raise the image of the built environment professions through the provision of excellent services.
Future Struct is placed in the medium size consulting engineering market. Future Struct has a low overhead cost structure with all members of staff and management actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the company. This ensures effective management as well as corporate accountability of the business.

Future Struct provides professional civil & structural engineering consulting services. All engineering designs are done in accordance with relevant international standards.

Future Struct provides full bridge design services in accordance with TMH7.

Future Struct provides the following specialist services: Detailed structural analysis, seismic analysis, design innovation and application of latest structural engineering technology.
Structural Safety Inspections
Future Struct assists clients with maintenance and risk management through annual structural safety inspections in accordance with the CONSTRUCTION REGULATIONS, 2014 section 11. Structural inspections are done in accordance with the SANS 13822 South African National Standard.
Value Engineering
Future Struct adds value to projects by producing more economical designs or by providing alternative design concepts that improves the constructability and construction speed of projects.
Engineering Management and Supervision
Future Struct provides engineering management and supervision services for construction projects. Engineering management services is done in accordance with NEC, GCC or JBCC as applicable. Future Struct are specialists in the management of large structural demolition projects.

Future Struct provides full civil and structural engineering measurements and schedules of quantities.
Sustainable Engineering Design

HEINEKEN PROJECT BIG
Project Big entailed the construction of a new 18,000m2 warehouse with 28 x 12m column grid at the existing brewery. Future Struct was responsible for the structural design of the warehouse structure as well as the structural schedules of quantities. In this project Future Struct opted for the use of structural steel girders rather than the precast concrete box girders used in previous phases in order to speed up the construction. Further innovation entailed the use of post-tensioned ground floor slabs to provide the client with a joint free warehouse floor of exceptionally high quality. The complete project from design to construction was completed in 10 months.
HEINEKEN PROJECT NEXT GENERATION
Project Next Generation entailed the construction of additional warehouse structures, canopies a gate house as well as the chemical store. In the warehouse a reinforced concrete slab on ground was opted for to mitigate the risks of sinkhole formation. This floor was designed through yield line analysis based upon the virtual work principles. In the chemical store particular attention was required to the painting specification to ensure corrosion resistance of the steel.
GABON AIRPORT
Future Struct performed the seismic analysis and preliminary structural design for the air traffic control tower and terminal building for the new airport in Libreville, Gabon in accordance with Eurocode.
HEINEKEN PROJECT HARVEST 2
Project Harvest 2 entailed the construction of an extension to the 23m high double skinned bright beer cellar (BBT) building. Future Struct was responsible for the structural design of the warehouse structure as well as the structural schedules of quantities. In this project Future Struct opted for the use of cellular beams as columns rather than the laced columns in order to reduce the steel quantity and speed up the construction.
MONUMENT HIGH SCHOOL PAVILION
Future Struct performed the structural design for the new pavilion structure at the high school rugby field.
BUILDING CONDITION ASSESSMENTS
Future Struct performed structural condition assessments of various building for various clients. These included in inspections of various office buildings in Johannesburg for the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development. (GDID), inspections of various school structures and inspections of various commercial buildings.
Future Struct also performs structural engineering condition assessments for commercial clients prior to the purchase of new building assets.
MOTSE RIVER BRIDGE
The upgrading of 20km of roads in the Sekhukhune District for Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL) required the design of a new bridge over the Motse River to replace the old bridge. Future Struct was responsible for the structural design of the 30m single lane bridge that is being constructed over the river.
EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (ECDC)
Future Struct completed the civil- and structural engineering designs for the new early childhood development centre in Freedom Park for Impala Platinum.
NEW ALBERTON HOSPITAL
Future Struct were subcontracted to perform the seismic design and design for accidental scenarios (e.g. accidental column removal) for the new hospital in Alberton, South Africa in accordance with SANS 10160.
CONTROLLED DEMOLITION OF THE BANK OF LISBON
Future Struct were subcontracted to perform the engineering management services on the contract for the controlled demolition of the Bank of Lisbon building in Johannesburg CBD. This large project was executed through a NEC3 engineering and construction contract.
